World Religion Day, January 15th.
Kirsty Abbott who led our service here on that day reminded us that at the heart of all faiths there is a Golden Rule.
It finds expression in different ways, within faith traditions, summed up in the words always treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself.
Simple but demanding, yet reflecting a profound challenge for our divided and polarised world.
Is it too much to hope that world faiths may for a time, at least,
Set aside theological, cultural and doctrinal differences to concentrate the human mind on the Golden Rule? And offer a vision of hope for our times! Offering a way forward to build a global community in which all people can live together in mutual respect.
Thank you Kirsty.
