ALL THAT hard work has paid off – City URC has been declared an Eco-Silver Church! Special congratulations go to Church Secretary Alison McQueen and City Green Friend Julia Edwards, who have led the small team that has worked so hard to achieve this and who also write our
monthly Eco-Tips column to keep us all on our toes.
But are they resting on their laurels? NO! the chase is now on to become an Eco-GOLD church.
Achieving an eco-Silver is an important milestone. The way we manage our church buildings, our garden, how we worship, how we interact with the community around us, and how we live as individual Christians, were all assessed in determining the award.
But Alison and Julia want to stress that this exciting news is just ONE step on our journey as we seek to care for God’s creation in the way we live our lives as a church and individuals. They thank and congratulate all the people in the church whose help and commitment has made this significant step possible, The Silver Award comes just a year after City URC achieved eco-Bronze, so good going. As we continue our Green journey to nurture and care for God’s creation and begin to work towards eco-Gold, volunteers to join the Green Team are very welcome indeed! Just chat to Alison, Julia or Liz Meek. They need more support at the heart of the eco operation and would love you to join them.
