Advent Reflections

“A prison cell in which the door of freedom has to be opened from the outside, isn’t a bad picture of Advent”.
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison

Imagine

Imagine a room.
The doors and windows are locked.
Voices echo around the room.
Hopes and fears.
Waiting, hoping.
A room. The world’s space.
A knock at the door.
Listen! I stand at the door.
A dilemma!
A door with two handles.
The door of freedom on the outside.
An invitation.
‘If you hear my voice I will come into you
and eat with you and you with me’.
The door on the inside needs opening.
An acceptance
ADVENT
Table Talk.
Time for a conversation.
Around the Table of Hospitality.
